COMMUNITY BASED RURAL LAND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (CBRLDP)
Conducting a detailed evaluation and household surveys using qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques

The CBRLDP is a community-based and voluntary land reform project, with the goal of delivering land to the landless and land-poor members of rural communities in Malawi. Specifically, the project aims to improve land delivery systems, especially in areas of accessing, titling, and registration; provide land tenure security; and increase agricultural productivity.

ECIAfrica has been contracted to conduct an independent evaluation of the programme, which entails reviewing and revising existing data collection methodologies and designing and instituting other data collection instruments. The evaluation will also comment on the environmental sustainability of resettled land, the emergence of social tensions between beneficiaries and host communities, the adequacy of post-transfer support, land price inflation, and the adequacy of including vulnerable groups.
