Governance and Public Sector Management

Paul Jackson provides technical advice and research expertise in a variety of public sector management projects, and more generally, undertakes project management, backstopping, and new business development responsibilities. Paul is currently assistant manager for two long-term projects in Mpumalanga, where ECIAfrica is providing Operational Support Teams to assist provincial departments with management and implementation for the infrastructure delivery programme. He also provides policy support on a project for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport. Paul has developed expertise in public service performance and management development in Southern Africa. He recently completed a research project on Management Development Institutes in Swaziland and Namibia, and led a capacity assessment of South African municipal training centres for the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority. Before joining ECIAfrica, he worked for the Central Johannesburg Partnership, a non-profit company committed to the social and economic revitalization of downtown Johannesburg, where he helped establish and manage City Improvement Districts among other initiatives.

Paul holds an MSc in urban governance for development from the University of Birmingham, UK.
