Philip Nel is an agribusiness specialist, with a specific focus on financial viability, business modeling, and sensitivity analyses. With more than 20 years experience, Philip has expertise in analysing many agricultural sub-sectors with high-growth potential in southern Africa such as cattle and beef, goats, horticulture and grain and oil seeds. He is also skilled in business modeling for land reform in South Africa. After joining ECIAfrica in 2003, Philip served as a financial specialist on the Promoting Agribusiness Linkages project, where he supported farmers in accessing finance to grow their businesses. He also developed a forecasting model for determining the profitability of a new financial product for TEBA Bank, and undertook viability studies on a number of agriculture and agribusiness projects. At ECIAfrica, Philip also acted as evaluator for project proposals to the Limpopo Local Economic Development programme.

Philip holds a B.Sc Agric from Stellenbosch University and an MBA from University of Pretoria.
